There are many sports guards available in drugstores, including stock mouth guards, boil and bite mouth guards and custom mouth guards. By far, the most effective and most comfortable is a custom-made mouth guard. It can fit your child’s smile comfortably, preventing serious dental injuries such as:
- Knocked-out teeth
- Chipped teeth
- Damage to the tongue
- Damage to the lips
- Damage to the cheeks and gums.
A stock mouth guard is made ready to wear. They are purchased at most drugstores and sporting goods stores. They cannot be adjusted, making breathing and speaking difficult. The stock appliance isn’t particularly effective at protecting the tooth. A boil and bite guard can be slightly customized with hot water, but still doesn’t provide adequate comfort or protection to your child’s teeth.
